Cremorne Project

Upper floor addition, ground floor interior and exterior renovations.
WYZ
Client brief:

Located in the Sydney suburb of Cremorne, this federation home required a renovation to create more functional and spacious living spaces. While the ground floor retained its original charm and period features, typical of the homes of its era, it lacked natural light and connection with the outdoors. An existing upper storey contained an unfunctional open loft as the second bedroom, accessed via a narrow spiral stair, without acoustic separation from the kitchen and living area below.

Our brief was to re-create the upper level with additional floor space, renovate and extend the existing ground floor, and create an outdoor entertaining space connected to the living areas.

Design solution:

Reconstruction of the upper-storey has provided the family with two extra bedrooms, including a master suite with a walk-through robe, ensuite and sitting area.

A small extension to the ground floor allowed us to create a light-filled, open-plan living area connected to the new rear patio via large steel doors. The kitchen and dining area are oriented to overlook the patio and garden and include ample additional storage.

The improved layout allows for three spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, open-plan living, kitchen and dining, a second lounge, study nooks and outdoor living areas.
